The saying is “knowledge is power”. Being in the travel industry this is the best part of our business. Visiting different countries and resorts, building on our vast network of suppliers ensuring that our travellers are sent to destinations that are not only on the travellers bucket lists but also meet with their expectations from service, experiences and budget.
Our travellers are not only leisure travellers but corporates who we assist with conferencing and incentive travel. It is with this in mind that we have visited the island of Mauritius which has never disappointed from a destination perspective. With the right partners in Beachcomber we have also never been disappointed with regards to supplying our travellers with unique resorts, rewarding the individuals who have met their targets with an incentive prize to motivate them to meeting their next target.
The resort of Shandrani a short distance from the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolan International airport is the biggest of the Beachcomber resorts, offering suites all along the water edge giving each suite a lagoon view. For any traveller from groups to individuals the beaches (3 in total) offers one a choice of escaping to a secluded spot to enjoy the sun, your book or just the sound of the gentle waves lapping onto the white sand.
For those who enjoy food and wines (guilty as charged) Shandrani does not disappoint, with 4 restaurants (Le Grande Port-Local and International cuisine) offering from buffet with different theme evenings, Ponte Vecchio (Italian Restaurant), Le Sirius (International Cuisine) and the Teak Elephant (Thai restaurant). Being an all inclusive resort offering all meals, local beers and international wines and cocktails throughout the day allows the travellers to enjoy their stay without their wallets.
Our visit also took us to the two great resorts of Le Paradis and Dinarobin. These two resort are next to each other and share the wonderful golf course of Paradise with the lovely mountain of Le Morne as backdrop on the western side of Mauritius. These hotels are also very closely positioned if you would like to explore the island. Favourite activities is visiting Chamarel Seven colored earth, sand dunes that have several natural layers of colored sand, or visiting the Chamarel waterfalls. For those more energetic, hiking the Le Morne Brabant allows for great views of the coastline below.
Our stay at the beautiful Troux Biche was an experience, not only a garden paradise but a Beachcomber resort that has taken the Mauritians great hospitality and build on it to offer service that leaves one in wonder. From the gardener, waiters, luggage handlers to receptionists a warm smile and a “how are you” is never too much. This warm hospitality is lead by none other than Fatima Chuttoo the general manger who from early morning till late evening is ensuring that the impeccable service is maintained with chats at dinner tables with guest who are known by their names.
For the food lovers again the resort offers a choice of 6 restaurants, Trou aux Biches Beachcomber has six restaurants named L’Oasis buffet meals, La Caravelle A le Carte, Le Deck -for light meals, Blue Ginger-Thai Restaurant, Mahiya-Indian Restaurant and Il Corallo-Italian Restaurant.
Enjoy a world of flavours sourced from the far end of Asia to the shores of the Mediterranean sea. With the Indian and Thai restaurant managed by Leckraj who is an asset to the two restaurants with his professional, friendly service, Not only taking his time in explaining the different courses but also taking you to the glass fronted open kitchen where the chefs are at work with their meals.
As conservationists and people who are concerned as to our carbon foot prints we leave on our beautiful world we were over joyed to hear that Beachcomber has affiliated themselves to “Earth Check”.
EarthCheck is the world’s leading scientific benchmarking certification and advisory group for travel and tourism. Since 1987, they have helped businesses, communities and governments to deliver clean, safe, prosperous and healthy destinations for travellers to visit, live, work and play. This they have achieved through strategic consulting services and technology solutions as well as through their certification and capacity building programs.
We were given the opportunity to speak to Nicholas the maintenance manager who explained this certification to us and was impressed by how easily the group has taken to this benchmarking certificate due to the fact that for Beachcomber it was just a further extension to the eco and social programs, they have since day one adopted at their resorts.
